Neal C. Patterson, Jr., 77, of Cape Coral died New Year's Eve after a brief illness. He was born in Lansing, Michigan, and was preceeded in death by his Mother Edys and Father Neal C. Patterson, Sr. He is survived by his Stepmother Selina Patterson and wife Carole; also cousin Margaret Rife and family, and godsons Chris and Scott Berard and families.

Neal was in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, and entered Michigan State University upon leaving the Corps. He later attended Detroit College of Law and earned a JD degree,

Neal was one of the early Attorneys in Cape Coral, opening his office December 1969. He formerly was with a Maritime Law Firm in Detroit, Michigan. His practice grew as did the city of Cape Coral, specializing in Wills, Trusts, Probate, and real estate law.

Neal became active with the Cape Coral Philanthropic Foundation, and was on the Rotary/Kiwanis committee that purchased the First Blood Mobile for the Edison Regional Blood Center.

He was active with the Jaycees and then became a member of The Rotary Club of Cape Coral. He became very active as a Rotarian, serving on many committees, as Club President and then District 6960 District Governor, and Chairman of a Zones 4 & 10 Institute. In addition he was an Instructor for the incoming Governors International Assembly, and was Delegate two times for The Council on Legislation. He was also a Leader for a Group Study Exchange team that spent 4 weeks in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, promoting International Friendship and Understanding. He served Rotary International on various committees, representing several International Presidents at District Conferences, receiving the Rotary Foundation's Distinguished Service Award, Citation for Meritorious Service Award and Rotary Internationals "Service Above Self" Award. He also enjoyed attending the Rotary International Conventions both in the US and many countries abroad. He literally had friends around the world!

He has been a long time member of St. Hilary's Episcopal church, serving on the vestry, Senior Warden, Chancellor and Lay Eucharistic Minister. He also has been a strong supporter of the AWOL group in Cape Coral.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday January 18, 2014 at St. Hilary's Episcopal Church 5011 McGregor Blvd. Ft. Myers, Fl 33901.
