Dr. Phillip S. Mahan, 91, of Cape Coral, FL died January 27, 2013. He was born May 19, 1921 in Bristolville, OH, a son of the late John Wesley and Corda Ridinger Mahan. Phil graduated from Ohio State University earning a doctoral degree in dental surgery. He married the former Marion Abler on September 5, 1943, she preceded him in death, October of 2006. Phillip practiced dentistry in the Warren, OH area for forty-five years.
Dr. Mahan was a veteran having served with the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Gordon Palmer Dental Society, the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, the Champals Investment Club and the Western Reserve #507 Masonic Lodge for seventy years. He was also a member of the Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite.
Phillip is survived by a son, John P. (Carol) Mahan of Champion, OH, a daughter, Michelle (Carl) Leonhart of Cape Coral, FL, 6 grand children and 5 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his second wife Gertrude "Trudy" Toner Mahan whom he married in December of 2007, along with her children Tim (Lisa) Toner of TX, Tom (Holly) Toner of FL, Tammy (Scott) Disbro of FL, Theresa Toner of FL and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers Karl and William and a sister Betty.
Funeral services will be held at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren,Ohio on Tuesday February 5th at 10:00 AM. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held held at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Fl on Saturday, February 16th at 2:00pm.
