Donald Odell Ayers Donald Odell Ayers, 64 of Huddleston, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, March 25, 1948 in Bedford , a son of the late Carlton Odell Ayers and Hazel Louise Collins Ayers. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Odell Ayers and two granddaughters, Jennifer Lauren Ayers & Ashley Nicole Howell & a great grandson, Andrew David Johnson. He was a truck driver with the Roanoke Times and was a member of Mentow Baptist Church. He was also a U. S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. Surviving is his wife, Peggy Radford Ayers; a daughter, Gail A. Clower & husband, Matthew of Bedford; a son, Carlton B Ayers & wife, Melissa of Rustburg; a brother, Kenneth Ayers & wife, Deborah of Bedford; a sister, Terrie Witt of Bedford, five grandchildren, two great granddaughters. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Mentow Baptist Church Building Fund, 3283 Mentow Drive, Huddleston, VA 24104. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Mentow Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Soult & Rev. John Boyle officiating. Interment will follow in the Quaker Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday beginning at 1 PM at Mentow Baptist Church.. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
