Walter Phillip Barry

Walter Phillip Barry, 86, of Forest, passed away, Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the wife of Marilyn M. Barry for 56 years.

Born May 18, 1926 in Staten Island, New York, he was the son of the late John Joseph Barry and Monica Byer Barry. He was of the Catholic faith and a retired Detective with the New York City Police department. He also proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Walter Phillip Barry, Jr. of Summit, NJ and Daniel Thomas Barry and his wife, Lois, of Portland, CT; one daughter Marylynn B. Hooker and her husband, Jayson, of Forest, VA; three grandchildren, Gina Barry and Christianne Barry, both of Celebration, Fl and Matthew Hooker of Forest, VA; one sister, Monica Buono of Staten Island , NY and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Baptist Church-Missions Fund, 1313 Two Church Lane, Forest, VA 24551

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.

Diuguid Funeral Service-Waterlick Chapel, 434-237-2722, is serving the family.
