CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Eugene John Peterson, 84, of 944 Country Club Blvd., died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Allzwell Autum Assisted Living in Chesapeake.

He was born in Excelsior, July 13, 1929, a son of the late Peter P. and Evelyn Elda (Hovenstine) Peterson.

He formerly lived on Walnut Street in Coal Township.

Eugene was a 1947 graduate of Coal Township High School and Penn State University in 1951.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1952.

He was married May 16, 1953, in Shamokin, to the former Elaine Drumheiser, who survives.

He was employed as business manager for General Motors Corp.

Eugene was a member of the Great Bridge Presbyterian Church in Chesapeake.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Mark Peterson, of Richmond, Va., and Scott Peterson, of Chesapeake, Va., and four grandchildren, Danny, Greg, Emma and Spencer.
