Curtis Lee "Curt" Johnson, 70, of 628 W. Shore Drive, Swansboro, formerly of Wendell, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born in Wake County on November 8, 1943 to the late Floyd V. Johnson and Callie Lee Yeargin Johnson. Curt graduated from Wendell High School in 1963, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years with Bobby Weathers at Triangle Heating and Air in Wendell.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Hephzibah Baptist Church (Old Sanctuary) with Reverend Aaron Wallace and Reverend Bill Sanderson officiating. Burial: Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving: Wife: Edna Jones Johnson; Children: Curtis Lee Johnson, Jr. (Mary) of Fuquay, Dale Hill (Amanda) of Clayton, Kevin Hill (Cathy), and Jason Hill (Heather), all of Smithfield; Grandchildren: Kenneth Johnson, Christina Johnson, Hannah Hill, Micah Hill, Jordan Hill, Silas Hill, and Benjamin Hill; Great-Grandchildren: Natalie and Haylee Johnson, and Georgia Lynn Taylor; Brother: Al Johnson of Wendell; Sister: Peggy Johnson Lewis of Wendell.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, and other times at the home of Peggy and Ray Lewis, 205 S. Cyprus Street, Wendell, NC 27591.
Curt has requested that in lieu of flowers, that you make contributions to your local Disabled Veterans Association.
