Elton Norman Choplin

Elton Norman Choplin, 84, died Friday February 15, 2013 at the Oaks of Mayview. He was born in Granville County son of the late Lelia Smith Choplin and Walter Choplin.
Mr. Choplin was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a radio operator in Japan and fought in the Korean War. He retired from Westinghouse (ABB) in Raleigh as a Senior Chemical Lab Technician.
Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, February 18, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Childress officiating. Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Nussey Choplin; children, Amy Massengill and husband Wayne of Fuquay-Varina, Greg Choplin and wife Beth of Florence, S.C.; Joyce's children, Bill Nussey and wife Melinda of Smyrna, Ga. and Karyn Mullins and husband Ron of Flowery Branch, Ga.; sisters, Billie Lowery of Wake Forest, Evelyn Cross of Garner, and Betty Williams of Charlotte; brothers, Lewis Choplin of Wake Forest and Joe Choplin of Burgaw, N.C.; grandchildren, Blake, and wife Heather, Brandon, Amy, Emily, Alex, and Ben. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Rhoda Pearl Lilley Choplin.
