John K. Epps

John K. Epps was born to the late Roslyn and Clayton Epps in Bronx, New York on February 20, 1937. The Angels came and took him quietly on December 3, 2013.
John attended public high school and graduated in the Bronx. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years. During this time, he was united in Holy Matrimony with Sondra Jones.
Upon leaving the Navy, John worked for the New York Transit Authority and on February 9, 1963 joined the New York Fire Department. There he served until his retirement. After retirement, he moved to New Jersey and in 2005 relocated to North Carolina.
John Epps had many hobbies, but his love of music and photography were the greatest.
In North Carolina, he joined White Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Apex. There he served with the Trustee Ministry, also with the 5th Sunday Ushers and sang with the Male Chorus.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 2:00pm at White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 1621 White Oak Church Road, Apex, NC
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sheila and Dorothy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Sondra, one brother, Clayton, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
