Maxine "Max" Frances Rizzo, of New Fairfield lost her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Danbury hospital. She was born on February 25, 1955 in Danbury, CT. Maxine is predeceased by her maternal grandparents Frances and Maxamillion Prinz and her mother Josephine Kovacs. Maxine will be missed by her husband of 38 years, Richard and her daughter Billie-Jo of New Fairfield, CT. She also leaves behind her brother Craig Kovacs and his wife Lori of Southbury, her sister Ann Kovacs of Brookfield and her brother Phil Prinz and wife Ann of Brewster, NY. She will also be missed by her loving sisters in-law and brothers in-law and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Retiring after 27 years of dedicated service to the Ridgefield, CT police department as a police officer, she found her passion as a homeland security officer. She was an avid bingo player and volunteer at St. Peter's Church and the VFW where she met many wonderful friends. She enjoyed the thrill of drag racing at many drag strips nationwide. She shared her knowledge and experiences by educating people on the dangers of drunk driving and speeding .A memorial mass will be held at St Peters' Church, Danbury on August 9, 2013 at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow at St Peters' Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends and family in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury CT on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 4 PM to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that contributions be made to help animals at the Best Friends Sanctuary, www.bestfriends.org.
