Paul J. Meyer, 85, of Southbury, CT, entered into eternal rest on April 16, 2014, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. His beautiful wife of almost 50 years, Gloria Maria (DeFina) Meyer awaits him in heaven. Paul's greatest loves were his faith, his family, and his country. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who spent most of his life in service to his family.
Paul Meyer was born on April 5, 1929, the ninth of ten children born to Godfrey and Ella (Pinsonneault) Meyer, of Clifton, NJ. Paul and his five brothers served proudly during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Guam and Camp Lejeune while serving in the Marine Corp, and rose to the rank of Sergeant. Paul was predeceased by his brothers, Godfrey O.S.B., George, John, Ted, Robert, and his sisters Catherine, Mary, and Edith. He is survived by his youngest sibling, Sister Margaret Mary Meyer O.P. of Caldwell, NJ.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter. Richard, and his wife Susan of Woodbury, and their children Sara Feola and her husband, Lance, and Julie; Nancy (Langrock) of Southbury, and her husband Chris, and their children Sherry, Jeff and Jenny; Robert, and his wife Nancy of Watertown, and their son Mark; Thomas, and his wife Christy, of Southbury, and their children, Michelle, Paul, Mathew, TJ and Rebecca; and Jeffrey and his wife Siobhan, of Southbury, and their children Catrina, Gregory, Michaela, and Allison.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 19th at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South, Southbury. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury. Calling hours will be held in the daily chapel of the church on Friday April 18th from 6 - 9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Food For The Poor, P.O. Box 979005, Coconut Creek, FL 33097-9005. The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, is in charge of arrangements.
