Morse, Jr., William S.
William S. Morse, Jr., age 84, of Danbury died Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Schilling) Morse.
Bill was born in Irvington, NJ, April 10, 1930 a son of the late William S. Morse, Sr. and Esther G. (MaGee) Morse. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and worked at the Savings Bank of Danbury for 39 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Danbury, the First Congregational Church of Danbury and the Richter Park Seniors Golf Club. He was a past Treasurer of the Mill Plain Independent Hose Company # 12 and was a member there for over 50 years. He was an avid NY Giants fan and while playing baseball at Trinity College, he pitched 2 consecutive no hitters.
He is survived by his son: Jeffrey C. Morse and his wife Elayne; grandchildren: Jacob, Christopher & Julia; Brother-in-law: Ozzie Batura; former daughter-in-law: Debra Morse all of Danbury; Special friend: Ann Tymon of Bridgewater, CT as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son: William S. Morse, III, daughter: Donna Morse and sister: Joan Batura.
Memorials may be made to the Hypotrophic Cardiomyopathy Association at www.4hcm.org or to the at www.diabetes.org.
The funeral will be held at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Saturday morning at 10:00 with the Rev. Pat Kriss officiating. Burial will follow at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
