APACHE JUNCTION - James E. Tessmer, 73 died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at home in Apache Junction. Born October 19, 1939 in Royal Oak, Mich., he was the son of the late Elmer & Ruth (Herzog) Tessmer of Apache Junction, formerly of Green Isle, Minn. & Almont, Mich. Jim pre-viously lived in Rochester Hills, & Almont, Minn., where he served as a Police Officer. While in Michigan, Jim started Chapter A & served as Michigan State Director for the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, also holding posts for Chapter N in Arizona. He earned the honor of One Million Miles on Gold Wings, adding many thousands of miles more on both Hondas and Harleys. Although retired from the car repair industry, Jim was known as "Wing Dr" for his expert mechanical knowledge and innovations of Gold Wing motorcycles, receiving inquiries from as far away as Australia. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Richard Edgett Tessmer; & his step-daughter, Kimberly Hall. Jim is survived by his wife, Judy; and his children, Kristine Edgett-Petty, Kimberly, James, and Dean Edgett, Ondrea Duffy, and Russell Kuhn. Also surviving is his brother, Wayne Tessmer of Arvada, Colorado; & sister, Kathleen MacCleary of Payson, Ariz. Jim has 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
