VIOLA - Arthur M. Chelf, Jr. of Viola passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at his daughter's home. He was 90. Mr. Chelf was born November 5, 1923 in Overly, Maryland to the late Arthur M. Chelf, Sr. and Mary Mae Sandford Chelf. He had served in the United States Navy during WWII, 1941-1945. Mr. Chelf was an over the road truck driver for over 60 years, driving for many companies and owned and operated Sunrise Trucking. He enjoyed collecting Hess Trucks, mowing grass and bowling in his younger years. Mr. Chelf also enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Orioles. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Louise Chelf, in 2007. He is survived by his sons, Michael Chelf and his wife Linda of Smyrna, Patrick Chelf and his wife AnnRenee of Lexington, Ky.; daughters, Deborah Skeen of Cleveland, Ohio, Theresa Reihms of Clayton, Barbara Munson of Kenton, Marie Westbrook and her husband Scott of Viola, and Michele Clark of Kenton; 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the First State Animal Shelter and SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
