DOVER - Edward Sherman Rolison, Sr., passed away on Nov. 2, 2013, the last of a family of ten children. Ed was born April 19, 1930, in Bayboro, North Carolina, to Guy and Martha Rolison. He graduated from Stonewell High School in North Carolina, after which he joined the United States Air Force, where he spent six years during the Korean War. He worked as an airplane mechanic during much of that time. After his discharge from the Air Force, he went to college and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in history from East Carolina College in Greenville, North Carolina. He taught school for three years, but spent most of his time working for Sears. He retired in 1990. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Dover. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josephine Spencer Rolison; two sons, Edward S. Rolison, Jr., and his wife, Terry, Kelly J. Robinson and his wife, Jeni; four grandchildren, Corporal Scott E. Rolison and his wife, Jennifer, of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, Sarah E. Rolison, Kate A. Rolison, and Samantha J. Rolison, all at home. A viewing will be held at Faries Funeral Home, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, Delaware, Tuesday night, Nov. 5, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church, 301 Walker Road, Dover, Delaware, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
