MILFORD - George G. Jester, Sr. passed away at home with his wife and loving family by his side on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was 78. George was born in Milford on May 4, 1936 son of the late George S. and Marion Harrington Jester. Mr. Jester was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was stationed at Paris Island and served a one year tour of duty overseas during the Korean War. He was employed with General Foods in Dover retiring after 32 years with the company. Buddy enjoyed the years he was involved with the activities of Pop Warner Football, Little League Baseball and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a friend to everyone, easy going, a devoted husband and father, and was proud to be a lifelong Milford resident. He will be remembered and missed by his family and many friends. He was a member for over 50 years of the Masonic Temple Lodge #9 A.F.&A.M. in Milford, a member of the Moose Lodge in Chicago, the Order of the Eastern Star Kent Chapter #11, and an avid member of the NRA. Buddy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy E. Jester; five children, George G. Jester, Jr. and his wife Cindy, of Milford, Charles Jester and his wife Betty, of Providence, R.I., Kathleen Jester, of Milford, Major Steven Jester and his wife Leslie, of San Diego, Calif., and Krista Haney, of Virginia Beach, Va.; eight grandchildren, Heather Jester, of Middletown, George G. Jester III and wife Colby, of Milford, Colton Ross Jester, McKenzie Jester and Reilly Jester, of San Diego, Calif., Samantha Sweitzer and her husband Dustin, of Virginia Beach, Seaman Nicolas Haney, of Virginia Beach, and Tiffany Hollingsworth, of Milford; and four great-grandchildren, Colyn and Cerese Jester, of Milford, and Bryce and Dylan Sweitzer, of Virginia Beach. Services and burial will be held privately. The family has requested that donations in Buddy's memory be made to the , 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE, 19720.
