Bader, 88 DOVER - Harry Frederick Bader passed away peacefully on Wed., Mar. 27, 2013. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on Dec. 13, 1925 to Henry B. Bader and Anna (Hess) Bader. Harry graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia. He proudly served as a Navy Corpsman in the South Pacific during World War II, and continued his service to his country in the Naval Reserves. In 1949, he married "the girl next door," Catherine "Marge" Shibe, and soon after he earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia. For more than 55 years, Harry was involved in the latex industry. He worked for several major companies throughout his career including Playtex, Seiberling Latex, Ansell (Australia), Spanel International, ILC Dover and Akron Rubber Development Laboratories. He was responsible for the start-up of numerous latex dipping plants in the US, Canada, the UK, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Bolivia and the Philippines. Harry was the only American in the group of individuals that founded the Scottish Jr. Chamber of Commerce in 1957. He also became their third president. He served as a US Delegate and representative on several latex trade organizations. He also authored a regular column "The Latex Doctor" for Rubber Asia magazine. He was considered the top problem solver and innovator for the latex industry. Harry loved to travel to any destination and enjoyed the local culture and food. He was proudest of the "good life" that he provided his family which allowed him to spoil his wife and kids and to entertain good friends. Harry is preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Holly Bader of Norman, Okla. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marge; his son, Curt Bader and wife Debbie of Kents Store, Va.; daughter, Heather Cregar and husband Eddie of Dover; his "velvet-eared" canine companion, Sam; and numerous cousins in Pennsylvania and California. A private graveside service will be held at the family's convenience. Arrangements are being handled by Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Memorial donations may be made to Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, 19022 Shingle Point Road, Georgetown, Delaware 19969.
