DOVER - Herman Floyd Dickerson passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Mr. Dickerson was born Oct. 22, 1931 in Dover, New Jersey to the late Robert Dickerson and Pearl Edwards Dickerson. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam, before retiring in 1970 as a TSgt. After the service he worked by day and went to Delaware State University at night to earn his bachelor's degree. He taught Electronics at Kent VoTech in Woodside and then at Kent County High School in Worton, Md. He also owned and operated Del-Air, a Rainbow vacuum shop in Dover. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, bowling, playing cards, and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rae Jeannine Ruffing Dickerson, in July 2001; and his three sisters. He is survived by his son, Daniel Dickerson and his wife, Jennifer Zambri-Dickerson, of Dover; daughter, Diana Dickerson, of Dover; brother, John Dickerson, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Emma and Geordi Dickerson. Services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
