CAMDEN - James Vincent Berotti of Camden, Del. and of Long Beach, NY passed away peacefully Feb. 2, 2014, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Washington, D.C. Born Vincenzo Borotti in Anagni, Italy, he was the middle son of Antonio Borotti and Giuseppina Alviani Borotti whose names changed on arrival in the United States. He emigrated by ship to the United States in 1932, alone at the age of 12, to help his father who emigrated earlier. Mr. Berotti enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and transitioned to the U.S. Air Force after WWII. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and participated in WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Belgium Congo relief effort. He received numerous awards and commendations while in the U.S. Air Force. After his retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He attended Flagler College and Delaware State College. He was an active volunteer with the Dover Air Force Base retiree association and the museum. Besides his parents, he is deceased by his wife, Marie Allegra Berotti, who died in 2007, and his brother, Thomas. He is survived by his brother, Fred; and leaves three loving children, Kathleen J. Hayden and her husband, Gierri, of Ambler, Pa., James V. Berotti Jr. of Beaufort, S.C., and Donna M. Berotti and her husband, Robert McClurg, of Nashville, Tenn. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian Hayden, Christina M. Buggy, Gierri James Hayden, and James V. Berotti III. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso 1175 S. State St. Dover, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 12 Noon on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at the Carpenter Chapel located in Dover Air Force Base Housing. Burial with Military Honors will take place in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Condolences may be made via www.ambruso.com
