CHESWOLD - James W. Pippin, Sr. passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90. James was born on June 25, 1923 in Wilmington, son of the late George W. and Sarah Helen Marvel Pippin. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in the 104th Infantry Division and 414 Infantry. After serving in the military, he began his working career as a farmer with his brother. James then served as service station manager for the Army Air Force Exchange Service from where retired. His hobbies included RV traveling, yardwork, hunting and archery. He was a member of the VFW Post 8801. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Shelly Lynn Pippin. James is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeannette West Pippin; two sons, James W. Pippin, Jr. (Jane) of Felton, Millard Wayne Pippin (Pamela) of Viola; two daughters, Janice A. Burritt (Rick) of Smyrna and Linda K. Jobe (Sonny) of Center Point, W.Va.; a brother, George M. Pippin Sr. (Dorothy) of Wyoming; ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Heidi. Service will be 4 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial with military honors will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 in the family plot in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
