Blankenship, 63 DOVER - Lee Edward Blankenship passed away, Friday, April 26, 2013 at Kent General Hospital. Mr. Blankenship was born Sept. 2, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Lee Blankenship and Ireka Harrison Blankenship. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Blankenship had worked for the State of Delaware as a bookkeeper/accountant retiring after 32 years of service. After his retirement he worked for the State of Delaware part-time. He had been past President, Vice President and Treasurer of the State employees union for many years. Mr. Blankenship managed the State softball league for many years and coached Kent County Girls Softball when his daughters were involved. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Orioles fan. Mr. Blankenship enjoyed barbequing, fresh water fishing, spending time with his friends, family, and especially with his grandson. Mr. Blankenship is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wanda Craig Blankenship of Dover; daughters, Amy Iannucci and her husband James, and Kate Blankenship all of Dover; brother, Robert Blankenship; sister, Judy Stahl; and his grandson, Evan Lee Iannucci. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Liver Research Foundation, 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, New York 10006.
