Frederica - Richard Sachs, of Frederica, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, in Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover. Richard was born July 15, 1927, in New York, New York, to the Late, Jacques & Anna (Schlotthauer) Sachs. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, in Queens, New York . He also drove a taxi cab in New York, N.Y. and ran a deli in Lake Ronkonkoma. Richard was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching all sorts of sports, from tennis, football, golf, and horse racing. He even had the opportunity of attending the Kentucky Derby the year that Seattle Slew won the Triple Crown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Ballard. Richard is survived by his wife, Theresa (Parise) Sachs; four children, Richard A. Sachs, of Swarthmore, PA.; Alice Gergas, of Bayside, N.Y.; Robert Sachs, of Hendersonville Nev.; Denise Sachs, of New Jersey; and step-son, Vincent Monteleone of Milford; a brother, Jacques Sachs, & his wife, Lucille, of Springfield, MO.; three grandsons, Heath Sachs, Kyle Seper, and Justin Gergas; two granddaughters, Kara & Julia Sachs; and two great-granddaughters, Sienna & Madison Sachs. Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, June 17, 2014. In Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may view from 6-9 pm, Monday, June 16, and 9 to 11 am on Tuesday morning. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901 or to the V.A.
