HARTLY - Robert C. Burge, age 69, passed away at his home July 5, 2014. Born in Langley Field, Va. Bob was the son of the late Raymond A. and Lois M. Burge. The family settled in Dover, in 1955 where Bob became an active member of the 4H Club. Upon graduating Dover High School he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. After serving his country in the Marines, he continued to serve his fellow man by joining the Dover City Police Dept. Upon his retirement from the Police Dept. he took a position with the DELDOT where he served in the Traffic Management Section until his retirement. He took up blacksmithing and volunteered in the blacksmith shop at the Delaware Agricultural Museum in Dover. In his quieter moments he enjoyed traveling with his wife. He leaves his devoted wife, Sharon Burge of Hartly; along with two sons, Matthew R. Burge of Hartly, and Justin M. Burge of Chicago, Ill.; stepson, Stephen Arrington of Hartly; along with two step-daughters, Shannon-lee Miller of Smyrna, and Sheila Baldwin of Douglasville, Pa.; one sister, Linda Haydon of Missouri; and three brothers, Gerald Burge of Florida, Stephen A. Burge of Harrington, and William A. Burge of Camden; also survived by one grandson, Clayton Burge of Hartly; and three step-grandchildren, Shauna Arrington of Smyrna, Hunter Miller and Morgan Miller of Smyrna.
