HARRINGTON - T. Jay Brittingham, of Harrington, Del., passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014. Mr. Brittingham was born in Harrington, the son of the late Earnest George and Pearl Dorothy (Brown) Brittingham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on a subtender during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a signalman for Conrail for 38 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the C.K.R.T. American Legion Post #7, Harrington and a life member of the Harrington Fire Company. He enjoyed fishing, working on old cars, especially on the Model A and going to auctions. What was most important to Jay was spending time with his family and being able to spoil his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Brittingham. He is survived by 5 children; Kay Kohut and her husband David, of Laurel, Russell Brittingham and his wife Lenice, of Milford, Donald Brittingham, Sue Harris, and Wayne Brittingham and his wife Jamie, all of Harrington; his former wife, Susan D. Brittingham, of Farmington; eight grandchildren, Savannah Brittingham, Haley Brittingham, Keirstin Brittingham, Austin Farrell, D.J. Brittingham, Samantha Gustafson, Ryan Harris and Kyle Harris; and two great-grandchildren Luke and Ty Gustafson. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington where a viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford - Harrington Highway, Harrington.
