LABELLE - Dr. James A. Culligan passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2013. He was born Oct. 24, 1935 in Schenectady, N.Y. to Robert and Hazel Culligan. He grew up in Miami and graduated from Miami Jackson High School in 1953. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Florida and became an agricultural teacher in LaBelle for 10 years. The primary love of his life was his family, which includes his wife of 58 years, Terry and his children, Greg, David (Lorraine), Dennis (Neysa), Kathy (Lee) and Karen, along with his eleven grandchildren Christopher (Stephanie), Tyler (Tayler), Kristen, Matt, Jessie, Lindsey, Kori, Michael, Turner, Wesley and Katelin; three great-grandchildren; brother Bill Culligan (Carol); brother-in-law Frank Sutera (Joyce) and nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Bob Culligan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the FL Chapter of FFA at flaffa.org. A "Celebration of Life" will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home 14046 5th Street in Dade City, FL.
