OKEECHOBEE - Max L. Gordon, 78 passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Ft. Pierce , FL. He was a resident of Okeechobee, FL since 1999. He was the only son of the late Cecil and Ruby Gordon of Stockwell, IN. Max graduated from Stockwell High School in 1953. He also graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago . He served in the US Army from 1958-1960. He owned and operated a television and appliance repair business for several years in Brookston , IN. He was a Deputy Sheriff for many years in White County and Benton County. He retired from Purdue University as a Temperature Control Technician in 1997. He was an EMT in Benton County for many years and very involved in umpiring Little League State and Regional tournaments. After retiring to Florida , he worked at the Okeechobee Lucky Lanes Bowling Center. He was an avid fisherman and bowler. Friends would say he was very outgoing, never knew a stranger and would help anyone at any time that needed it. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy; his son, Tim and; daughter, Tara; and one grandson, Bradley. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Buxton-Seawinds Funeral Home. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m., L.C. Campbell, Jr. will be officiating.
