Kenneth Harlan "Kenny" Byrd

CRISFIELD - Kenneth Harlan "Kenny" Byrd went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Crisfield, Aug. 12, 1931, he was a son of the late Harlan Wesley Byrd and Edna Rae Riggin Bedsworth. Kenny was a US Air Force veteran retiring after 27 years of service. Following his retirement, he was a truck driver for H. Glenwood Evans & Son Seafood and John T. Handy Seafood. He was also a delivery driver for Landon's Flowers for many years. He was a member of Mariners United Methodist Church and a life member of the Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad and served on the Board of trustees for both. Kenny loved and was very active in sports, umpiring for many years throughout the area. He also enjoyed traveling. Most of all, Kenny loved being with his close-knit family and especially loved family barbeques. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Jean Harris Byrd of Crisfield; eight children, Ken (Byrd) Musselwhite and wife, Cheryl of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kathy Crockett and husband, Claude of Crisfield, Karen Holloway and husband, Ron of Abingdon, Md., Kenna Richardson and husband, Russell of Mardela, Kandy Ross and fiancé Randy Burke of Crisfield, Katie Morris and fiancé, Ray Bradford of Salisbury, Kenneth "Buck" Byrd of Salisbury, and David Byrd of Crisfield; a special daughter, Fran Gonzales of Salisbury; a brother, Jack Byrd, Sr. and wife, Susie of Crisfield; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Byrd. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing was from noon until 2 p.m. Pastors Todd Hurley and Steve Willing officiated and a eulogy was given by Bill Balderson.
