PRESTON - Reginald A. Maguire, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on June 8, 1931 and was the son of the late Reginald Allen and Agnes Leonard Maguire. He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1948. He served in the United States Air Force in England from 1948 to 1957. On Dec. 26, 1953, he married Dortha A. Milligan. Reginald worked at Provident State Bank and later for a number of years as an accountant for Albert W. Sisk and Son, where he later retired. He was a life member and past Exalted Ruler of the Cambridge Elks Lodge #1272, a past State President of the Elks for the South East District of Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, a District Deputy of the Elks, and a Grand Loyal Knight of the Elks. Mr. Maguire served as president of the Preston town council for 6 years. He also served as past commander for the Hurlock American Legion Post #243 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Maguire is survived by his wife, Dortha A. Maguire, of Preston; a son, Reginald A. Maguire, III and wife Vicky, of Dover; a grandson, Patrick T. Maguire of Norfolk; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Reginald is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Curtis. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Interment will take place at Unity Washington Cemetery in Hurlock. Family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elks National Foundation, 2750 North Lakeview Ave., Chicago, Il. 60614.
