BROZEN - Eugene, born May 18, 1927, passed on December 24, 2012. Gene died as a result of complications from lung cancer. His son Paul and grandsonBrendan were at his side. He is survived by his loving wife Anita of 61 years, his sons and their wives, Neil Brozen and Mary Wertz, Paul Brozen and Ellen Sullivan, David and Stacie Starr and his five grandchildrenMaddie, Matthew, Brendan, Liam and Caitlin. Gene was born on May 18, 1927 in Bronx, NY to Charles and Madeline Brozen. He was in one of the first graduation classes from the Bronx High School of Science at the age of 16 and attended NYU for one year before joining the Army. Genereturned to NYU where he received a Bachelor's of Science and Masters in Business Administration after serving in the Army. His work career included working for Bert Matzner, hisfather in law, as a salesman and estimator at May Tag & Label Company, a Special Agent for the IRS and a criminl investigator for the District Attorney for Brooklyn County. We think he may have been one of the oldest criminal investigators in the history of New York City when he retired at age 82. Gene loved the beach and spent as much time as possible at Silver Point Beach Club where he was a member since 1958. He also loved his family very much and was very fond of Irish music and culture. A Memorial Service will be held at the Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home from 7 to 9pm on December 28th, 3646 Bell Blvd., Bayside, NY. Contributions can be made in his memory to the NYC Library in Queens or Bronx High School of Science.
