SCIORTINO - John P. Sr died June 18, 2013 in Cape Coral FL. He was born on April 15, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to John & Mary (Mega) Sciortino. He served in the Navy in WWII. He attended Buffalo State College where he received a degree in education. It was there that he met the love of his life Mary Ellen Duquette. They were married on June 11, 1952 and had just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. They moved to Deer Park, NY where he was a Driver's Education Teacher. He received his Master's Degree in Driver's Education from Southern Connecticut University. He taught at West Babylon High School for 25 years. He also was the varsity soccer coach, where he went by the nick name of "Bonzo" He retired in 1983 and moved to sunny Cape Coral, FL where he split the winters and summers on their home at Tar Island in the thousand Island Ontario Canada. He was an avid golfer. He played 3-4 times a week up untl a year before his death. He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, his daughter Susan "Sue" Sciortino of Fort Myers FL, son J. Paul Sciortino Jr. of Jeffersonville, VT with his wife Vanessa and his grandchildren Kendra and John Paul III. He will be missed by all and his 2 cats Missy and Noel.
