Nancy GOLDMAN Obituary

GOLDMAN - Nancy passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 atAmsterdam Hospice with her beloved husband of 32 years and best friend, Alan Goldman, by her side. Nancy bravely fought a 13 year battle with breast cancer with the best of spirits and optimism. She refused to let cancer define her or stop her from living her life, and she enjoyed each and every day to the fullest. Nancy was the rock on which her family and friends could rely for encouragement, counseling, cheer and inspiration. She is survived, by her husband and the love of her life, Alan, and her three amazing children, Sarah, Jacqueline and Michael. They have grown into kind-hearted, accomplished adults because they learned about life from Nancy. She is also survived by her parents, Albert and Patricia Buchholz, of Flushing, NY and her sister, Diane Conwell of Palm Harbor, FL. Nancy was a community leader, tirelessly volunteering her time, talent and energy to the Roslyn Publi Schools. Throughout the years that her children were in school, Nancy was devoted to their education. She served in many different capacities, including PTA co-president and treasurer, Marching Bulldogs co-president and treasurer, and member of the District Budget Advisory Committee. Nancy was a true warrior and a hero to her family and friends. Her smile lit up every room she entered and her glass was always half full with enough to share. Everyone who knew her will miss her, and her loving spirit will remain in our hearts forever. Family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday & Thursday 2-5 & 7-9pm at the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home, 75 Mineola Ave., Roslyn Heights, NY. Funeral service Friday 10:30AM at funeral home. Interment Roslyn Cemetery. Roslynheightsfh.com.

As years pass, friends come and friends go. A sister is a friend for life. Nancy was not only my sister she was my best friend.

She was always there for me with a smile and hug! When I would call her on the phone to say hello, and wanting to know how she was doing, she would always say "everything is good, it's good" and she would turn the conversation to me and focus on what was going on in my life.
She included mom and dad in so many things, which put smiles on their faces and kept them young.
Nancy was a very loving and caring sister-in law to Chris. She always made him feel welcomed, and part of her family. She gave us both good advice, one thing she told us, if we were happy things would always be good, so far she has been right.

I meet so many of Nancy's friends over the years and everyone would say so many great things about her, but I had already known all these things because she was my sister. I feel she was truly loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Sarah, Jacqueline, and Michael I am extremely proud of the adults you have become. You all have so many of you moms good qualities, I love each and everyone of you.

Alan, thank you for taking such good care of my sister, what can I say, you are a great father, husband and brother-in law. Nancy truly married her best friend..

Maggie, you always knew the right time to lay down next to Nancy.

To Nancy, you were the greatest big sister anyone could have had. We had so many good times that I will never forget. You were the strongest and most courageous person I have ever known. Everything you did, you did with a smile. You never complained. I will miss our long talks, but most of all I miss seeing you!
You will always be in Chris and my hearts and we will miss you everyday and always!
Love,
Di
