Albert John "Jack", 68, of The Villages, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, June 20, 2014 after a brief illness.
Jack was born and raised in Ocean City, New Jersey by parents Albert and Mary. He graduated with honors from Ocean City High School, Montclair State College where he was the Vice President of the Student Government (BS), University of Illinois (MA) and Nova South East, FL (Doctorate of Education). Jack was listed in the Who's Who in "Colleges and Universities" and was a proud member of the National Honor Society, Phi Delta Kappa, and Kappa Mu Epsilon. He was also a member of the choir and a Lay Reader of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Montvale, NJ, a member of the NJ Principals and Supervisors Association and a founding member of Brothers in Song in The Villages, FL. A strong advocate of education, Jack was a Math teacher and Vice Principal at Pascack Hills High School, NJ for 25 years. He then became the Principal of New Milford High School, NJ until his retirement in 2006. Jack was an outstanding teacher and leader attested to by the many students and fellow educators whose lives he touched. His witty humor brought laughter to all he knew.
Jack is survived by his wife, Peggy Terwilliger Moncrief; three children: Zachary Moncrief and his wife Charlene of Burbank, CA; Eric Neufeld and his wife Stacie of Eden Prairie, MN; Jennifer Saner and her husband Robert of Palm Harbor, FL and proud Oppie of Isabella and Genevieve Moncrief and Jake Saner. He is also survived by his sisters Ethel Anderson of Claymont, DE and Rebecca Rae McDowell of Pennsville, NJ, as well as, his brother William Moncrief and his wife Nancy of North Wildwood, NJ; his mother-in-law, Trudy Barton of The Villages, FL; brother-in-law Jack Terwilliger and his wife Sandy of Loon Lake, NY; and sister-in-law Geri Moncrief of Chester, NJ. He has numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Jack was predeceased by his son, Jonathan Moncrief of Burbank, CA and brother, Robert Moncrief of Chester, NJ.
A Celebration of Jack's life will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Montvale, NJ at 2 PM.
