Aldo, "Captain Al", passed on Sunday July 8, 2012 at his home in Titusville, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosemarie Vassoler; his sister Vilma Van Riper; his two sons and their wives, Aldo Vassoler Jr. and Martha Briggs Vassoler, Louis M. Vassoler and Natalie Cooper Vassoler; granddaughter Amy Noack Williams and her husband Andy Williams; grandson Louis Michael Vassoler Jr.; and one great-grandson Ayden Cooper Williams.
Aldo was born October 29, 1929 in Passaic, NJ, the eldest child of Luigi and Emilia Vassoler. He grew up in Clifton, NJ, until he entered the US Army, where he served honorably during the Korean War.
His professional life was one of giving and service; first as a Fireman in Clifton, NJ (1959 - 1965) and followed by Training Officer and Captain for the Titusville Fire Department (1965 - 1986). He was honored as the first Fireman of the Year by the American Legion of Titusville (1975) and was instrumental in establishing and organizing the representation of the Titusville Fire Fighters.
In his personal life, Al served his community as a little league umpire at Holder Park; an avid and accomplished keyboardist at local churches and senior centers. He served as Deacon at the Way of Life Church on Singleton Ave. in Titusville. His entrepreneurial spirit spawned many establishments in the Titusville area to include the Snack Shack and Raft Rental at Playalinda beach in the mid 1960s; Rosa's delicatessen behind Miracle City Mall and most notably The Silver Cue with friend and fellow Fireman Carlos Williamson.
There was a viewing at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville on Wednesday July 11, 2012. Funeral services will be at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville on Thursday July 12, 2012 at 10 AM, followed by a graveside service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville.
The family requests that donations be made to Hospice of St. Francis, 1250 - B Grumman Place, Titusville FL, 32780 in Aldo's name in lieu of flowers.
