Dawn, beloved wife of Henry Furneaux and devoted mother of Julia, Henry and William Furneaux, passed away on Tuesday, August 20.
Dawn, the daughter of Joanne Cestaro Turner of Pipersville, PA and Kent Westhelle of Savannah, GA, was born in Jersey City and graduated from Syracuse University. Her career in lighting design included innovative work in Europe, advanced training in New York and facilitating design at the Metropolitan Art Museum.
She then joined the family company, where her pioneering design skills generated novel marketing niches in the distribution of fine paper.
Of all her many achievements, Dawn was most proud of being an outstanding mother who always put her family first. At the age of 49, she was the victim of inflammatory breast cancer, an unrelenting and cruel disease that she battled with extraordinary courage and grace.
There will be a viewing at the Ahern Funeral Home on Thursday August 22nd from 4-8 PM. On Friday August 23, a service will be held at the Asylum Hill Congregational Church at 11 AM followed by the burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
