Don Spellman of Pequannock age 78

PEQUANNOCK — Services will be held for Don E. Spellman, age 78, of the Pompton Plains section of this community and Southampton, N.Y., who died on Tuesday, September 11, 2012.

Mr. Spellman was the vice president of sales and marketing at J.L. Prescott Co., Passaic. Previously, he was the vice president of sales and marketing at Eppens Smith Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Also, he was one of the founding members of the Private Label Manufacturers Association in New York City, serving as chair, and was named to its Hall of Fame. He was a performer with the Smoke Rise Players and coached PAL football and Little League baseball. And, he was a member of the juvenile court system of Pequannock and Morris County.

Arrangements are by the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. Burial was at the First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains or the Jersey Battered Women's Shelter of Morristown.

Mr. Spellman is survived by his wife, Ruth; his children, Donald Spellman, Pamela Spellman, Garrett Spellman, Karen Cachion and Kim Quigley; and nine grandchildren.
