LAWRENCE
Ernest "Ernie," 84, of Old Tappan, NJ passed peacefully on Sunday, November 11th at his home. He was born in the Bronx attending schools and working in that borough until moving to Old Tappan in 1966. He was employed by a General Motors affiliate for 35 years and was a member of the Highbridge Rod and Gun Club. An avid and talented athlete Ernie was a member of the 1944 All City fencing team from Dewitt Clinton High School. He was a member of the Old Tappan Golf Course from its inception helping to build the first club house. In addition to golf he was a past member of the Old Tappan Lions club. Ernie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lawrence ,sons Steven - his wife Susan, son Jeffrey- his wife Jill and granddaughters Elise of Scottsdale Arizona and Julia of Old Tappan. Burial in the Old Tappan Cemetary will be private. The family will celebrate his life at the Old Tappan Golf Course Club House, DeWolf Road on Friday November 16th from 2-4:30 PM. Donations in Ernest's name to the Old Tappan First Aid Corps, 4 Russell Ave. Old Tappan, NJ 07675 would be greatly appreciated.
