OAK RIDGE — Services were held for Eugene Kolodziej, 78, of Clifton, who died on Thursday, March 22, 2012. He was the father of Joanne Hoekstra of this community.
Born in Wallington, Mr. Kolodziej lived in Clifton for most of his life. He was an entrepreneur and the owner of several businesses, including Gene's Shell Station in Fairfield, Caldwell Scale in Belleville, the Ambassador Travel Agency in Clifton, and Gene's Borderline Pub in Clifton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. And, he was a parishioner of St. John Kanty R.C. Church, Clifton.
Services were Sunday at the Shook Funeral Home, Clifton, followed by Mass at St. John Kanty R.C. Church. Interment was at St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of New Jersey, 400 Broadacres Drive, First Floor, Bloomfield, NJ 07003.
Mr. Kolodziej is survived by his children, Kenneth Kolodziej of Dumont, Joanne Hoekstra of Oak Ridge, Janine Kotocavage of West Palm Beach, Fla., Richard of Bridgeport, Conn., and Christine Metzger of Hillsboro; and 10 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph.
