Gary J. "Rusty," on March 22, 2014 of Edgewater, NJ, age 57. Rusty was born on January 22, 1957 in West New York, NJ. to Iris and William Stewart. Rusty was many things in his life but mainly he was a devoted and loving father to Madisen Lynn Stewart. He lived in Edgewater for 50 years where he created his home for his family and the place that held his heart. He owned Rusty Kales Pub on River Road which became a second home to the whole community due to his outlasting wit and charisma. Throughout his life he had this untamable gift to touch those around him with such ease that made each person feel loved beyond words. He generously and unselfishly loved people for exactly who they were and in return loving Rusty was effortless. He will be missed by, his brothers and sisters, Michelle Matus and her husband Don, William Stewart and his wife Yolanda, Hazel Pontillo and her husband Sal, Alexander Stewart and his wife Charisse, Victoria Dearnley and her husband Derek, Scott Stewart and his wife MaryBeth, Sandra Petescola and her husband Pepsi and Stephen Stewart. He was adored by eleven nieces, three nephews, six great-nieces and three great-nephews. Rusty was employed with the Hills Brothers Coffee Edgewater, NJ, he was also part of Local 1456 Dock Builders. Rusty took part in the Trustee of Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department, was a strong member of the ELKS Club of Palisades Park, NJ. and had been a 9/11 ground zero rescue worker. He also received a Medal of Valor for saving a womans life who was drowning in the Hudson River. This is just one of the many representations of his kind and loving heart. Rusty Stewart will be greatly missed and will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 10 AM at the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home 495 Anderson Avenue Cliffside Park, NJ. Cremation will be private. The family will receive their friends Wednesday 3-8 PM. Donations may also be made to the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Dept. P.O. Box 83 Edgewater, NJ 07020.
