BALDI
Gaston, 88, passed away July 26, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. 'Gat' was a longtime resident of New Jersey (Waldwick and Upper Saddle River) and Florida (The Villages) before moving to New Mexico in 2013.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne (Novogrodsky), three children; Karen, Bruce, and Donna; his sister Mary (DeMartini) and four grandchildren (Josie Pickens, Siena Baldi, Jackie Olson and Brooke Baldi). He was preceded in death by his parents, Quintino and Marietta (Remia), his daughter Maretta (Olson), his Brother Edmund, and his sister Gilda (Littier).
Born in Waldwick, NJ, on Dec 20, 1925, Gat grew up on Cleveland Ave and attended St Luke's in HoHoKus. In 1944, Gat joined the Army Corps of Engineers serving in the Persian Gulf Command in the Middle East. He returned home and worked in the construction business started by his father and met Anne at the Englewood School of nursing.
They raised their four children in the house Gat built on Danebury Downs in Upper Saddle River. Gat had a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, golf and travel. He and Anne took many family road trips in their station wagon as well as many places after the kids were grown, including his parents' hometowns in Italy. Gat enjoyed retirement in Florida in 1997 and enjoyed entertaining visitors, especially his granddaughters. He continued his active lifestyle well into his eighties, and remained an inspiration to his family and friends by his appreciation of all good things like wine, food and any round of golf.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at his granddaughter Siena's creativity foundation (www.mitchcollective.org): Contributions may be sent to: MITCH Collective, 501 N 7th St, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
