Obituary Condolences

POMPTON LAKES — Services were held for George I. Dykstra, 91, of this community, who died on Sunday, February 3, 2013.

Mr. Dykstra was raised in Danforth, Ill. He was a science teacher in Springfield, Pequannock, and Glen Rock schools and later was the principal at Wesley D. Tisdale School in Ramsey for 24 years before retiring in 1984. Also, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was an active member of Pompton Reformed Church, Pompton Lakes, for more than 50 years as well.

Services were Saturday at the Pompton Reformed Church, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pompton Reformed Church, 59 Hamburg Turnpike, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442.

Mr. Dykstra is survived by his son, Tom of Rochester, Mich.; his daughter, Jill Laux of Clifton; his friend, Betty Artsma of Franklin Lakes; his brother, Gerald of Primghar, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Anita Wells; his brothers, Francis and Harold; and his sister, Carolyn Kohlman.
