POMPTON LAKES — Services were held for George Michael Monarque, 84, of Lakewood, who died on Monday, November 4, 2013. He was a former resident of this community.
Born and raised in Paterson, Mr. Monarque lived in Pompton Lakes for 35 years before moving to Lakewood. He was an ice-cream salesman for the Country Club Corp., Totowa, for more than 40 years before retiring. Also, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
Services were Friday at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes, followed by burial at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 1000, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or to
Mr. Monarque is survived by his wife, Joan; his children, Cynthia Monarque, Kenneth Monarque, Nancy DeMaio, George Monarque, and Linda LaVerne; his sister, Dorothy Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and an expected great-grandchildren.
