EHRLICH
Dr. I. Robert, age 87, of Teaneck, on July 31, 2014. He was born on September 1, 1926 in Washington, DC and attended West Point in 1946. He commissioned a 2LT in Armor. Served three years in the 14th Armored Cavalry in the Army of Occupation in Germany. Transferred to the Ordnance Corps. Served in Aberdeen Providing Grounds, Maryland and the Detroit Tank Arsenal, Michigan. Resigned as a Captain in June 1960. His career field was in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. Post Graduate of Purdue University, M.S in Engineering and the University of Michigan, PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked for Stevens Institute of Technology in various faculty and supervisory research positions related to vehicle design and performance on and off the road. Professor of Mechanical Engineering; Dean for Research; Dean of Engineering; Vice President for Research; Vice President for Academic Affairs; Retired as a Full Professor. I. Robert Ehrlich, P.A: President and Owner of an Engineering Firm that provided consulting services to attorneys on the engineering aspects of litigation. His Achievements were the Directing and Development of the "New Jersey Barrier", the center barrier, construction protector, and bridge parapet, which is its standard for all Interstate Highways. Internationally recognized authority in the off road performance of vehicles. He Participated in the development of the NASA Lunar Roving Vehicle, the M-1(Abrams) tank, and the Bradley armored personnel carrier. He was a Fellow, Society of Automotive Engineers President and Fellow, International Society of Terrain-Vehicle Systems. Member of the Society of the Sigma Xi, and Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma. President of B'nai B'rith, Teaneck Chapter. He is listed in Who's Who in America and many other like publications. Chairman, Scientific Advisory Committee for the US Army Tank-Automotive Command. Chairman, Safety Committee of the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Inspection Commission. He was married to his beloved wife Sheila Lenor nee; Kaminsky on June 11, 1950. Devoted father Richard Mark Ehrlich and his wife Ilene Nassau Ehrlich and Heather Maureen Ehrlich Reiser and her husband Andrew Reiser. Cherished grandfather of Michael, Scott, Matthew and Jonathan. Loving great grandfather of Aubree Hayden Ehrlich. He would like to be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother that did the most that he could for his family and for his country.
