James K., of Wayne, New Jersey (formerly of Upper Nyack, NY), passed away on April 3, 2014 at the age of 59 after a long battle with leukemia.
James was born in Nyack, New York on January 9, 1955, the son of Raymond L. Schupner (deceased) and Elizabeth C. Schupner.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Dale Schupner, brothers John, Ronald and Raymond, and mother Elizabeth, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
James was a graduate of Nyack High School class of 1973. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the SUNY College at Brockport, NY, and a Master of Arts degree in teaching from Manhattanville College.
He taught high school biology for nearly 30 years at DeWitt-Clinton High School in the Bronx, NY. He was the recipient of multiple teaching awards.
James was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Wayne, NJ, serving as chalice administrator and lay reader.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 1219 Ratzer Road, Wayne, NJ on Tuesday, April 15 at 4:30 PM with a reception to follow at the church.
