WANAQUE — Services were held for Jerlando "Jerry" Graceffo, 97, of Garfield and St. Petersburg, Fla., who died on Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was the father of Joseph of this community.
Born in Passaic, Mr. Graceffo was a lifelong resident of Garfield. He was the owner of the Whooppee Soda Works, Garfield, for 53 years before retiring. Also, he was a charter and life member of the Garfield UNICO, where he served as its first treasurer for 25 years and was named Man of the Year in 1991. He was a former member of the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce, both of Garfield, as well.
Services were Tuesday at the Costa Memorial Home, Hasbrouck Heights, followed by liturgy at Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church, Garfield. Entombment was at St. Nicholas Museum, Lodi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Mr. Graceffo also is survived by his other sons, Anthony of Mahwah, and Jerlando of Gulfoport, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Theresa DeRosa; his parents, Antonio and Maria; and his sisters and brother, Rosaria Manicone, Carmela Salvatore, Ciro Graceffo, and Marie Vanzella.
