Jerlando Sr. "Jerry", 97, a lifelong resident of Garfield and a resident of St. Petersburg Beach, FL, passed away on July 25, 2013. Born in Passaic to the late Antonio and Maria Graceffo. Before retiring, he was the owner of Whooppee Soda Works in Garfield for fifty-three years. Jerry was a charter and a life member of the Garfield UNICO, where he served as its first treasurer for twenty-five years and was named their Man of the Year in July 1971. He was a former member of the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce, both in Garfield. Beloved husband of the late Theresa (nee DeRosa) Graceffo. Devoted father of Anthony Graceffo and his wife Joan of Mahwah, Joseph Graceffo and his wife Rose Marie of Wanaque, and Jerlando Graceffo Jr. and his wife Joann of Gulfport, FL. Dear brother of the late Rosaria (Sadie) Manicone and her late husband Thomas, the late Carmela Salvatore and her late husband Michael, the late Ciro Graceffo and his wife Emilia of Garfield, and the late Marie Vanzella and her late husband Anthony. Loving grandfather of Anthony J. Graceffo and his wife Jill, Joseph Graceffo and his wife Ann, Julie Ann Daccord and her husband Philip, Gerald Graceffo and his wife Melanie, Gregory Graceffo and his wife Elisa, Jerlando Graceffo III and his wife Kimberlie, and Frank Graceffo and his wife Michelle. Cherished great- grandfather of thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral from Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Ave., Hasbrouck Heights, on Tuesday at 9 AM. Funeral Liturgy from Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church, Garfield, at 10 AM. Entombment following at St. Nicholas Mausoleum, Lodi. Visitation Monday 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
