Obituary Condolences

Jeromine C., of Mendham, formerly of Ridgewood, died Sunday, June 22. Born in Riverdale, NY to the late John and Margaret Carmel, Mrs. Hadinger was a graduate of New York University and earned a Master's Degree in Public Health Administration from Columbia University. She taught nursing at Fordham University and worked with public health organizations in New York City. She was recognized for her wartime contribution instructing members of the U.S. Cadet Nursing Corps. In 1944 she met a handsome Naval Officer, Alfred A. Hadinger, who was home on leave. They were married in 1946 and celebrated 60 years together in 2006. Mr. Hadinger was a former Mayor of Ridgewood. Following the birth of her sons John and Alfred Jr., Mrs Hadinger moved with her family to Ridgewood, NJ where she resided for 50 years and her daughter, Barbarann, was born. Mrs. Hadinger taught school in Ridgewood for 25 years at both Somerville and Hawes Schools. She loved children and devoted many hours of personal time tutoring students who needed extra help. She served as President of the Somerville School PTA and the College Club of Ridgewood. She was a member of the Ridgewood Women's Club and Upper Montclair Country Club. She was a volunteer at the Valley Hospital, Community Meals on Wheels and The Depot. She was an avid tennis and bridge player and loved to entertain. She was known to throw a party at a moment's notice and was a wonderful cook, whipping up unforgettable meals for her family and friends. In her retirement, Mrs. Hadinger enjoyed golf and travel. Her great joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, Alfred III, Julia and Katherine Hadinger and Elizabeth and Christopher Kwasnik. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Mrs. Hadinger is survived by her son-in-law, Dennis Kwasnik and daughter-in-law Kristina Hadinger. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, June 27th at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Chapel, Ridgewood. Visitation Thursday, June 26th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood. Entombment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations to the would be greatly appreciated.
