BYRNE
John P. "Jack," a native of Bronx, NY, formerly of New Milford, and a current resident of Ramsey, NJ passed away peacefully on October 29, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marilyn A. (nee Griffin). Loving father and father-in-law to Jack (Nancy) Byrne, Jane (Frank) Russo, Jeri (Patrick) O'Byrne, Bill (Kathleen) Byrne and Brenda (Tim) Esposito. Cherished Poppy to Katie, Joseph, Emily, Jack, Olivia, Nicholas, Erin, Billy, Liam, Caroline, Danielle, Claire, Declan, Connor and the late Douglas. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary (Joey) Giannini, Ann (Dan) Gallivan and several nieces and nephews. Jack was a proud member of the New York City Fire Department for 36 years. He also served his country in the United States Navy, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Irish American Social Club of Bergen County. He treasured his time with his family. He loved to travel, taking cruises with the love of his life, Marilyn. He was a devoted Poppy and was a constant presence at the school plays, dance recitals and sporting events of his grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 7-9 PM and Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Mass of Christian Burial will be from Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, 1 Passaic St., Ridgewood, NJ at 10:45 AM on Monday, November 5, 2012. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Parkinson's Support Group of the Greater Ridgewood Area, c/o Mr. Eugene Provost, 24 Skytop Road, Wantage, NJ 07461-3628 or New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation, 21 Asch Loop, Bronx, NY 10475.
