PEQUANNOCK — Services will be held for John Anthony Fortunato, 68, of Springfield, Vt., who died on Thursday, November 14, 2013. He was the stepfather of William Marolda of the Pompton Plains section of this community.

Mr. Fortunato was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a runway flagger for the Port Authority in his youth and worked for the town of Englewood Cliffs, Thomas J. Lipton, and Electrolux Corp. before retiring in 2002. Also, he was a volunteer firefighter in Englewood Cliffs for 10 years, serving as chief from 1973 to 1975. He was a volunteer with the Holy Trinity Youth Group. And, he was a drummer for the Manhattans.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Visiting Nurse Association and to Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire, P.O. Box 976, White River Jct., VT 05001.

Mr. Fortunato also is survived by his wife, the former Marianne Marolda; his son, Steven of Fort Lee; his daughter, Dianne Fortunato Braatz of Stamford, Conn.; his other stepsons, Mark Marolda of Hawthorne, and Jim Marolda of Wayne; his foster brother, Victor Lopez of Staten Island, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by parents, Michael and Lucy; his brother, Peter Fortunato; and his foster sister, Marilyn Lopez.
