PALOMBA
John Joseph Sr. (Giovanni), age 84, of Bogota, entered into eternal life on April 10, 2014 in the comfort of his home. John was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, traveling the world while serving on the USS Waldron and was an active member of VFW Post #5561. When his children were young, John was active in Bogota Recreation Baseball, the BUC Boosters and the Boy Scouts as Assistant Scoutmaster. Prior to retiring in 2007, he worked for the Bergen County Parks Department and Court House as a security guard. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joan. Devoted father of four sons: John Jr. of Hackensack; Richard and wife, Carol Ann, of Wanaque; Gary of Lincoln Park; Ronald and wife, Amanda, of Hewitt. Dear grandfather of Kelly, Alexander, Mandy, and Ryan. Also survived by his brothers Anthony Palomba and Louis Palomba; niece, JoAnn McGarry; nephews Raymond, Jack Jr., and Donald Bozzuffi; and many other loving relatives and friends. Also predeceased by his sister, Anna McGarry. John was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Adeline Palomba. The Funeral will leave Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Avenue, Bogota, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 9 AM for the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's RC Church, Bogota, at 9:30 AM. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Bogota VFW #5561 would be appreciated.
