John, Jr., 89, of South Blooming Grove, NY and Ridgefield Park NJ, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 after a short illness with family members at his side.
During over the 40 years John worked for the Susquehanna Railroad he resided in Ridgefield Park.
When John retired from the railroad he his wife Gerry and his youngest son Dennis moved to Brooksville, FL, where he enjoyed playing golf and working with a Boy Scout Troop for challenged children and the Special Olympics.
After 20 years the family moved back up north and lived with John's daughter Beth Ann and her family where he resided when he passed.
John was a World War II Navy Veteran.
When John resided in Ridgefield Park he was involved with Boy Scout Troop 6.
He was a coach with the Ridgefield Park Little League and served as the coach of the All Star Team on 2 occasions.
John was a life time member of Truck #1 of the Ridgefield Park Fire Dept. where he served two terms as Captain before retiring after 20 years of active service.
John was predeceased by his wife Gerry (June 2011) and his youngest son Dennis (July 2013), his brother James and his sister Ann.
He is survived by five sons and two daughters, John (Linda deceased), Michael (Youshi), Deborah (Ray), James (Judi), Brian (Ellen), Kevin (Lea Ann), Beth Ann (Kenneth), fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grand-children and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at Saint Francis R.C. Church at 10am. The family will receive friends at Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home, 59 Main Street, Ridgefield Park, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in John's Name to the .
