GEORGE
Lynn (Perler), 58, of North Haledon, died April 27 at home surrounded by her family and close friends. For four years, she had waged a valiant battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
Born in Hawthorne, she grew up there and moved to North Haledon 35 years ago.
She was a member of the Borough's Celebrations Committee and for 16 years,
she volunteered at every public event in this community. An avid gardener, she was a Passaic County Master Gardener and she served as former secretary of the New Jersey Botanical Gardens Association.
She was a former president of the North Haledon PTA, a Girl Scout leader for 10 years and the former president of the Sacred Heart Women's Organization.
In 2003, she was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award by the John A. Girgenti Civic League but she was most proud of being a stay-at-home mom to four beautiful daughters.
When her children had grown, she worked as a legal secretary for the past 10 years at Williams Caliri Miller & Otley attorneys in Wayne.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Randy, the mayor of North Haledon; four daughters Erin and her husband Thomas Gander of Hawthorne; Laura and her husband Anthony Conforti; Kathryn and her boyfriend Yousef Fattah; Emily and her boyfriend, Zachary Zarby; her mother, Dorothy Perler and her husband Joseph Lange, all of North Haledon; a brother, Gregory and his wife, Lynn Crosby Perler.
She was predeceased by her father, John Perler, and a brother, Jeffrey Perler.
Funeral will be departing at 9 AM on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne for a 10 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart Armenian Catholic Church, Little Falls, NJ. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-8 PM.
